After loving camping so much and wanting to get our hands dirty, buying a campsite seems like a perfect marriage…little did we know!
In 2008 we open our gates to our first customers and the snow came to greet them.
Since then we have worked hard to improve what was already a superb campsite.
In 2008 we introduced rent-a-tents before ‘Glamping’ was put in the dictionary.
In 2009 we dug up and placed 30 more electric hook-up points & extra water
points. We purchased 2 VW Danbury’s renovated & put them out for hire.
In 2010 we dug deep and invested in the facilities block. Vince started the yearly
re-build of the drystone wall surrounding
the main-field. This will finish in 2016.
In 2011 we decided to relocate the office outside the house. We found a Vintage
1968 Airstream Overlander & had the
messy job of trying to make this in to
our now fabulous little box of treats as
well as an office.
In 2012 Vintage Airstream No. 2 arrived for hire. This time a little easier as Matt, who owns it, had re-furbished it.
2013 we dug again, this time for drainage. Our site’s already a fab campsite for
drainage due to the limestone bed but
after the floods of 2012 we wanted to
do everything possible!
2014 we finally created some storage and built a beautiful larch shed and the bases for our glamping tents.
2015 saw the arrival of our brand new Yurts! We created a roof for our washing up area and started the planning for our onsite coffee shop.
2016 we bought a brand new glamping Safari Tent for our customers to hire and opened our coffee and bread shed! 6 years later and Vince put the last stone on the wall. We welcomed Francis Rupert to the world - the newest addition to the Masons Crew
2017 we added a second safari tent to our glamping options and said goodbye to the beloved campervan TUUT :(
Watch this space as the adventures continue...
We hope to see you all soon!
